SPORTSERVE SUPPLY EUROPE’S BIGGEST EVER PORTABLE BASKETBALL SCOREBOARD
GB Basketball started their campaign to qualify for the European Championships, playing amongst the elite of European basketball in Eurobasket Division A.
This big task required a big scoreboard for the big crowds expected.
Sportserve were commissioned by UK Sport to build, supply and install what turned out to be the largest portable scoreboard ever built in Europe.
At almost 7m(23ft) x 2.5m(8ft) the Stramatel electronic scoreboard was used across 3 venues for the GB Basketball home games (London’s o2 arena, the nia Birmingham and echo Liverpool).
The Stramatel scoreboard was constructed in 5 sections so it could be dismantled and moved with ease from site to site. The whole package contained the large scoreboard which has Individual teams, individual player names, fouls, a smaller electronic scoreboard. Two, four sided shot clocks which also displayed game time.

“With Sportserve team of experienced fitters and electritians the scoreboard installation takes up to five hours and the de-rig takes up to 2 hours before we are ready to move onto the next venue. Sportserve are one of only a few companies in the UK that has the expertise to take on such a task.
The GB Basketball team made a fantastic start to the qualifiers but the task of reaching the finals is still a big one, we look forward to even bigger crowds when we next bring out the biggest portable electronic scoreboard in Europe.
