SAM MITCHELL IS NBA COACH OF THE YEAR
Sam Mitchell has been named NBA coach of the year after guiding Toronto to their first Atlantic Division title.
Second behind Mitchell's 394 points in the voting was Utah's Jerry Sloan (301), with last year's winner, Avery Johnson of Dallas (268) in third.
Raptors forward Morris Peterson said: ''Sam's done a great job, and if anyone in the NBA deserves it, it's him.''
After 13 years as a player, Mitchell worked for two seasons as an assistant before Toronto hired him in June 2004.
